Getting to Romania

For most of our international travelers, the easiest option is to fly into Bucharest, the capital city, via the Henri Coandǎ International Airport (OTP).

HiSky Europe has a direct flight option from New York City JFK to Bucharest OTP with a flight time of approximately 8 hours and 50 minutes. Starting around September 2026 you can book this option via the button below.

There are also many fun layovers which you can add to your trip. Typical travel time from the East Coast can range from 11-15 hours depending on the connection, and from the West Coast 15-20 hours. The most common connection cities include:

  • Amsterdam via KLM

  • Paris via Air France

  • Frankfurt or Munich via Lufthansa

  • Vienna via Austrian Airlines

  • Zurich via SWISS

  • Istanbul via Turkish Airlines

  • London via British Airways

Romania is a part of the Schengen Area and U.S. citizens may visit Romania without a visa for up to 90 days. Please remember, your passport must be valid for at least three months before your planned departure.
