Romania
We’re so excited to celebrate with you all in a place that means so much to us. Romania is known for its beautiful mountains, medieval towns, incredible food and wine, warm hospitality, and rich history. We hope you’ll spend some time beyond the wedding to experience everything this place has to offer.
Language: Romanian is the official language, but English is commonly spoken in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas. You’ll also hear Hungarian and German in certain regions.
Currency: Romania uses the Romanian Leu (RON), not the Euro. Most restaurants, hotels, and shops accept credit cards, though it’s helpful to carry small amounts of cash for taxis, local markets etc.
Weather: May is one of the most beautiful times of year. You can generally expect high temperatures of 65-75°F (18-24°C) and low temperatures of 45-55°F (7-13°C). Flowers will be in full bloom and you can expect an occasional rain shower. We recommend bringing some layers for the cooler evenings.
Getting Around: Romania is a larger country than most people realize. Traveling between cities is best by rental car, train, or domestic flight. Uber and Bolt are widely available in the larger cities.
Electrical Outlets: Romania uses European Type C and F plugs, with 230V electricity. Guests from North America will need a plug adapter.
Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, Sinaia is one of Romania’s most picturesque mountain towns. Once the summer retreat of Romania’s royal family, it’s known for its elegant architecture, fresh alpine air, scenic hiking trails, and spectacular castles. Whether you’re joining us for just the wedding or spending an additional few days, Sinaia is a wonderful place to explore. We personally recommend arriving a day early or staying an extra day to experience why its known as the Pearl of the Carpathians.

A Royal Legacy
Sinaia is home to Peleș, one of Europe’s most beautiful castles. Built in the late 19th century as the summer residence of King Carol I, the castle is renowned for its ornate woodwork, eclectic art collection, and stunning mountain setting. Peleș was among the first castles in Europe to have electricity, central heating, and an elevator, making it remarkably modern for its time. King Carol I built a neighboring castle, Pelișor for his heirs to reside which was designed by his wife Queen Marie in an Art Nouveau style with a famous Golden Room that is well worth a visit.
Mountain Scenery
Located at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, Sinaia offers beautiful views in every direction. In May, the forests are lush and green, wildflowers are in bloom, and the weather is perfect for spending time outdoors. The town sits at an elevation of approximately 2,600 feet (800 meters) making it noticeably cooler than Bucharest.
Walkable Charm
The heart of Sinaia is compact and easy to explore on foot. You'll find cafes and restaurants all within walking distance of the wedding venue and hotel on the Dimitrie Ghica Park.
Rich History
The town takes its name from the Sinaia Monastery founded in the late 1600s. It remains an active place of worship and is an important historical landmark.
