Whether you're family, future family, or one of the wonderful friends who has become family along the way, it means the world to me that you're celebrating with us.
A little about me: I spent most of my childhood in New York City. Friday nights weren't spent in Central Park or the movies—they were spent running through the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art after Penny Proddow. Somewhere between Egyptian temples, Impressionist paintings, and medieval armor, my love of art history quietly took hold. My claim to fame is that I still know the museum like the back of my hand to this day, i believe I have been in every public gallery space.
My mom, the ever-patient chaperone, would reward our museum adventures with dinner a few blocks away on 82nd street at Girasole. Looking back, that's probably where my appreciation for great restaurants began—and where I learned the joy of being greeted with a double kiss and, "The usual?"
Twenty years later
New York is still home. A lot has changed, but somehow my favorite ways to spend a Saturday haven't. I still lose track of time wandering museums and galleries, and I'm always excited to try a new restaurant (although these days I'm much more adventurous than childhood-me).
When I'm home and ignoring my phone, you'll usually find me crocheting on the couch while negotiating custody of my yarn with our cat, or testing another dessert recipe. My current obsession is sticky toffee pudding and Jonathan has yet to complain.
If there's one thing you'll learn about me, it's that I love a good plan. Since 2019, I've worked at Sotheby's and am currently a Product Manager, leading designers and engineers who build our internal auction platforms. It probably won't surprise you to learn that planning a wedding scratches many of the same itches: lots of spreadsheets. And if you know me, I love a spreadsheet. If you've noticed an unusual amount of detail ... now you know why.
Romania has always held a special place in my heart. I was born in Bucharest, and much of my mother's family still lives here. To me, it's a place that has always meant family, history, and belonging. Some of my happiest memories were made here, and sharing this beautiful country with all of you has been one of my greatest joys of planning our wedding. I hope you'll leave with your own favorite Romanian memories—and maybe a new appreciation for sarmale and țuicǎ.
I couldn't finish without mentioning my favorite chapter: Jonathan. From the very beginning, he has made life brighter, more meaningful, and infinitely sillier. In New York terms, he's the Bing to my Bong—the person who reminds me that joy is often found in the little moments, and that it's okay to be a little sentimental. I feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
Thank you for all of your love, your encouragement, and especially to those who are traveling near and far to celebrate with us. Having all of our favorite people together in one place is something we'll cherish forever.
